Retro Tuesday: '80s Movies Quiz #3

Name the flick. And the actor or character speaking the line...

1. "Days get shorter and shorter, nights longer and longer, before you know it, you life is just one long night with a few comatose daylight hours."

2. "I don't make things difficult. That's the way they get, all by themselves."

3. "You're going to be fertilizer! They're going to bury you right next to Jimmy Hoffa!"

4. "Well my mother raised me on blackroot. It's good for you. It puts hair on your chest, doesn't it, Sticks?"

5. "All cowboys ain't dumb. Some of'em got smarts real good, like me!"

6. "G@dd#mn it, I knew I should've listened to my mother. I could've been a cosmetic surgeon, five hundred thou a year, up to my neck in tits and ass."

7. "You have to purify yourself in Lake Minnetonka."

8. "Your shower shoes have fungus on them."

Bonus question: these quotes all have something in common. What is it?

(Oh, and one of these movies was made in 1990. Just to keep things fair.)

The thing they have in common is I don't know a single one of 'em!

Thanks for the thank you card, Colleen, it arrived today! You're very sweet :-)

Had an appt with my chiro tonight. He walked in the room, stopped dead and said, oh you smell good! It was Eau de Snape ;-)

Well, I will pass on researching these as I'm only the second one to post, because it is twoish in the morning. And I'm awake because my dog let me know he needed to go pee.

But #6 is from Romancing The Stone. From the movie that sealed the deal for many of us writers to pursue this gig. ;)

LOL, Janet - I'm with you on the commonality thing. I don't know any of them either although a couple sounded vaguely familiar.

Oh, is the common theme "camping"?

Okay, so far we have #4 is from Willow--Val Kilmer says the line.

And #6 is from Romancing the Stone, and Michael Douglas says the line.

The common theme isn't camping. It's who's saying the line....they're all men.

2. Lethal Weapon. Riggs.

5. "All cowboys ain't dumb. Some of'em got smarts real good, like me!"

One of my all-time favorite movies!! Urban Cowboy. John Travolta says it.

6. Romancing the Stone

7. Bull Durham

Ha ha ha, Jennifer! You're closer than you think on #1! ;-)

Great job! Thanks for playing. All right Gypsy! I knew I could count on you!

Jennifer, your common theme works, but it wasn't what I had in mind. My common theme was: '80s heartthrobs who've become more than a little worse for wear lately; IOW, they aren't so attractive anymore.

Heh heh heh. I loved Prince too. I thought the sex scene in Purple Rain was really hot!

Man, I thought I got here early enough this time, but the only one I knew was #7 and Jennifer beat me to it!

None of the lines sounded familiar to me, so I just assumed I hadn't seen any. Now that I see the answers, I feel like a dummy. I've seen all of these and some of them were even my favorite movies at the time.

Perfect timing on my part to hit the end of the game--for the record the only one I recognized was #4 from Willow (I LOVED that movie!) so much for my 80s smarts.
