I Don't Get Leo DiCaprio

I mean, I don't get the gushing over him. The loin quiveration, as Lainey calls it.

He does nothing for me. He looks like a pansy! A wimp! Kind of greasy, with that little goatee.

I like manly men. He appears like he just got out of high school.

I've seen most of Titanic, in bits and pieces (can't stand to watch that scene where the mom puts her kids to bed), and he certainly didn't do it for me then. I'm sorry.

So can someone explain his appeal to me? 'Cause, really, I think it's crazy, this squeeing over Leo.

I understand he's great in The Departed, which I haven't seen yet. But for me, I'd take Matt Damon anyday. I've been crushing on him since The Bourne Supremacy.

But Leo? No thank you.

Ditto.

Good actor, but he looks way too young.

I didn't get the hoopla about Leo until I saw Gangs of New York, where he kinda reminded me of my own Lancelot. Same glowering brow and blue eyes.

I agree. Matt wins in my book :)

He's not manly enough for me either - although he did have a certain element of sexy in The Departed - which I have seen but won't review because it would consist of nothing but spoilers.

TOTALLY Agreed! He's just a scruff ball now and back in Titanic he was like too man-pretty.

But yes, I adore Mr. Matt too!

Good Will Hunting sealed it for me on that one!

I agree, but I have conflicts about Damon. However, he was pretty darned hot in Bourne. I prefer men with muscles to flex and a steely jaw to clench when they're angry. I also prefer my men to be fans of bathing--except for Johnny Depp who is my only exception to the manly man rule.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! I was beginning to wonder if it was just me.

Whew.

And, Jaye, I know what you mean on the bathing thing. I've heard that about Brad Pitt too....and those are just some things I'd prefer not to know.

Maybe they eschew deodorant, but do we have to know these things?

(Guess not...'cause I'm never going to get close enough to tell the difference!)

You know what I was wondering the other day? How come you always hear about Ben Afleck's girl friends/fiances/etc, but you never hear about Matt Damon's?

I mean, they're in almost every movie the other has made, even in tiny roles. They grew up together. It's plain odd that we always hear about Ben's women and never Matt's escpecially since it's clear that he's the one that's more attractive and more talented.

I'm just saying.

O.K. It's possible that I spend way too much time alone.

I'm on the bandwagon with you...Leo's too babyfaced...but then again, so is Matt Damon, PLUS he reminds me of my first ex LOL! Which means...maybe I did like babyfaced guys ... hmmm...

I also have to agree. I think he's "cute", but in that adorable, baby-faced way that everyone else has mentioned. I felt the same way about all the Orlando Bloom squee that was going on during LotR movies. I think Viggo Mortensen and Sean Bean are MUCH HOTTER!

Wish I could explain it to you, but I don't get it either. And it has nothing to do with the fact he looks exactly like my cousin. That just adds an "ewww" factor. And, he's just young.

I think there should be more gushing over Sean Bean ~ I didn't even know who he was before yesterday. But, does that man have a smile. He's got a beautiful smile and his eyes twinkle. That's attractive to me.

I became fan of Damon after Bourne Identity. Besides the fact that he's hot, and plus he looks a lot like my favorite cousin, I admire the fact that he doesn't seem to care about all this fame stuff. I heard that he married a girl far from "Hollywoodness", a bartender he met, well, at a bar. A real Cinderella story?

Ack!

Wait just a minute, N. Mallory...

I have a ginormous soft spot for Ben Affleck. What sealed the deal for me was listening to him speak on political talk shows (O'Reilly and Bill Mahr). He is well-informed and is capable of having an intelligent conversation. I think that is REALLY hot.

He is more vocal than Matt and so he gets more media attention. IMO.

Sorry for the diversion, but I couldn't help myself.

I've never been a huge DiCaprio fan though I really do like the movie Titanic. I also really liked Romeo and Juliet. To me he's a hit or miss actor. His performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape and in Catch Me if You Can were both terrific, in my opinion. More often than not though I find myself passing on movies simply because he's in them.

Damon is great in the Bourne movies. Never get tired of watching those. Wish they would get off their butts and make the next one already.

Seems everyone has an opinion on this one and I'm going to have to agree with the majority on this one. Whimpy looking guys like Orlando and Leonardo (check out the names) can't do anything like Matt Damon. I even find myself thinking that actors like Will Smith are something, even though he's goofy looking, it's his sense of humor that does it for me I think.

I thought he was teriffic in What's eating Glibert Grape and Romeo and Juliet. I think he's cursed with pretty boy looks but fundamentaly he's an excellent actor who's made some rotten choices.

I can't go past George Clooney and Hugh Jackman in the lust stakes.

I've loved him since forever!!

i'm not much of a fan of either of them but i do think leo is starting to look better as he gets older and...well, a little bulkier. he's not so...ladylike now.

but i much prefer men who look like men, brandon gleeson, philip glenister, ciaran hinds. adult men. men who look like they could possibly take a bullet for you, and not get blown over by a slight breeze. and let us not forget what got me to this blog in the first place--alan rickman. now he's something worth the "loin quiveration" in my book.

I find almost everybody mentioned pretty attractive. Leo tugged at my heart strings in Titantic. Love Viggo, Sean AND Orlando in Lord of the Rings. Think Damon is really hot in the Bourne Identity...but, if I had to choose (yeah, I have a rich fantasy life) Colin Firth would win, hands down.
Tammy - what other things have you seen Sean Bean in? I only know him from LOTR.

Somehow, I missed Sean Bean until I saw him in LOTR, but I was distracted by Viggo so didn't really pay too much attention to him, until I saw him in National Treasure. I really liked him there.

I think one of the gossip columnists calls Orlando "Three Whiskers." I just crack up every time I see that!

I'm not a fan of either of them to be honest. I'm more of an Orlando Bloom gal myself, but I do agree with your comments concerning Leo. He's just appears too weak and young for my tastes. I think as he gets older, he may have a shot at winning over my loin quiveration.

(I so am going to say that from now on! Thank you for the new catch phrase!)

Thanks, Marina, but I can't take credit for the "loin quiveration" phrase. That's Lainey of LaineyGossip.com.

She's hilarious and snarky. Love her!

Sean Bean has a small role, with Christian Bale starring, in the sci-fi movie Equilibrium. It is a love it or hate it type of film. I thought it was great fun.

I think both are handsome, but young and boyish. Maybe it's my perspective, getting on in years as I am.
